This is a online business card/portfolio website for young and emerging Furniture Salon “Woody” (Kyiv, Ukraine). The requirement was to make a modern look to draw younger customers, yet keep it solid and usable for everyone. The website uses responsive design which means it always looks nice independently on what device one is using: PC/Mac/iPad/iPhone/Android phone, etc. Also it should be SEO-friendly (which meant usage of semantic HTML and stuff). As far as the operators of the site are not very technical people, managing information had to be smooth and easy.

This site is for the people like me, who usually uses photocamera and GPS Navigator separately, but would like to have their photos geotagged on Flickr. Initially it was a simple tool for myself, but I decided to polish it a bit and share with everyone.

At the moment the site works only with Flickr, but it might support Google Picasa in future as well.

I am kinda lazy and don’t like to waste time to build python packages from scratch. Well, easy_install handles most of the cases perfectly but only when the extension does not require some external tool or library. The typical example is PycUrl library. You have to download the cURL itself, do this, than do that… and it is quite bothersome. Hopefully I have found the amazing place where lots of packages are prebuilt for Python 2.6 and 2.7: “Unofficial Windows Binaries for Python Extension Packages”. It is a real time-saver…

Originally I developed this service only for my personal needs: I’ve got a Windows Mobile phone and it had no native Brightkite application as iPhones and Android-based phones. At the same time I had the Google Maps application with Google Latitude support so I searched for a way to pull my location from Google Latitude and post it to Brightkite. When I got it working I thought that it could be somewhat useful for other people and wrapped the core into the application designed for Google App Engine.
